Music that really will change your life

I first heard Portishead during an SNL rerun in which Sarah Michelle Gellar hosted and they performed. This was in the late 90's. I proceeded to buy both of their albums. For me, it was life-changing music. I absolutely fell in love with their sound and started listening to genres of music that I never would have considered.

I didn't realize then that I would have to wait a decade for their next album! Well, it has finally arrived and it's just as amazing as I hoped. My favorite songs so far are The Rip and Nylon Smile.

Diets don't work. Starvation does.

Just kidding. I'm just bitter because I've been trying to lose weight for what seems like an eternity and eating healthy is not fun. The only time I seem to lose weight is when a) I find myself too busy to eat, or b) I follow a program such as Jenny Craig and eat small amounts of unsatisfying food until I can't stand it. Either way, eventually things must come to an end and I find myself right back to my muffin-top self. Long-term starvation and meal plans just aren't realistic.

This time I'm just trying to make better choices on a daily basis. I just finished some instant vegan tortilla soup for lunch. What's for dessert you ask? Why, a stick of orbitz gum! Joy.

Actually, I'm feeling pretty good about this latest attempt to become a skinny bitch. I've been eating lots of egg whites, whole wheat, almonds, dried fruit, and peanut butter. Also, Kashi protein bars are quite delish. I've tried very hard to find normal food that I actually enjoy. The most difficult part for me is avoiding fast food. So far so good.

I just won this really cute gray ZARA boots on Ebay.com the other day. I work up at 8 AM on sunday morning to participate in the bid. It went smoothly until last min someone outbid me. I have to act quick (and thank you to my babe's fast acting laptop) I wont the bid by 1 dollar! I am a lucky girl and I can't wait to wear them!

Back to blogging

I've been on hiatus for a few years. What can I say...working and going to grad school doesn't leave much free time.

Now that I'm back in L.A. I've decided to give blogging another try.

Since my last post, I left behind the cold Boston weather. ICK! I brought back someone with me, though. Meet Dex-tah!

He's my little monster.
