Shopping:Skinny Jeans

Skinny jeans is not going anywhere for a while. It is here to stay for another season or two. If you have not own a pair, you might want to check out this trend. I was holding my feeling for a while (a year to be exact) of this phenomenon. I have been telling myself that I am too big to be wearing skinny jeans. A while ago I gave myself a chance to try on some of them on and I look awfully ugly in them. Since the jean makers realized that not everybody has a small waist and a pair of long slim legs, they came out with jeans that are body-friendly. Thanks to them, now I can enjoy the trend like the rest of the model citizen.

Here are some of my fave slim jeans for real women

Roxy Brooks Skinny Women's Jeans - Black Denim At $40, you should get both washes.

Roxy Brooks Skinny Women's Jeans - Dark Vintage

Gap Skinny Fit

For under $60, you can't complain.

AE Skinny Stretch Jeans

At about $48 you can get a cute little top and a cute little bag for all under $100. What a bargain!!

Give them a try and let me know what do you guys think. I think they are pretty awsome and the price are all right for my budget.

Whatever: Road Trip!

In exactly one week my cross-country trek from L.A. to Boston will begin! I'll be blogging from the road when possible, but here's a preview of where I plan to stop along the way, so far.

Stop #1: El Paso, Texas

I'll probably be arriving here very late at night, after a long day driving through various deserts of the southwest, so there won't be much sightseeing.

El Paso is the county seat of El Paso County in the U.S. state of Texas. According to the 2005 U.S. Census population estimates, the city had a population of 598,590, making it the sixth-largest city in Texas and the 21st-largest city in the United States. El Paso is second only to San Diego, California in size among all U.S. cities on the U.S.-Mexico border. Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua lies opposite of the Rio Grande (Rio Bravo del Norte)—which is separating the two cities—forming a bi-national metropolitan area of 2,280,782, making it the second-largest bi-national metropolitan area on the U.S.–Mexico border.

Stop #2: San Antonio, Texas

We'll be staying here for two days to visit my mom and check out the city. I'm looking forward to spending some time at the River Walk.

Paseo Del Rio (River Walk) in the heart of downtown, is the pride of the city. Lush green foliage lines the banks of this peaceful, historic river. Cobblestone walkways lead visitors to the river-level restaurants and shops. The river bubbles to the surface on the grounds of the University of the Incarnate Word and flows to downtown, threading its way through the city one level below the hustle and bustle of city streets. First called Yanaguana by the Payaya Indians, meaning "place of refreshing waters." Along the horseshoe shaped riverbend, the river is shaded by towering cypresses, oaks and willows and bordered by gardens of flowering ornamental plants. River cruisers travel the River Walk’s three miles past unique retail shops, restaurants and nightclubs.

Stop #3: New Orleans, Louisiana

This is where we were supposed to spend the first half of our honeymoon, but then Katrina came along and that bitch ruined everything! I am hoping to do more than just spend the night here, although right now it depends on what time we get into the city.

According to FrenchQuarter.com: In the French Quarter everything is different and everything is the same. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the region. The French Quarter, the historic heart of the city, suffered wind and rain damage but no significant flooding. After clean-up and refurbishment, hotels, restaurants, shops, historic homes, museums, attractions, bars and clubs are back in service and patrons and visitors are back on the streets of the old Quarter. We're all still here and more eager than ever to show you what joi de vivre really means in New Orleans.

Stop #5: Suffolk, Virginia

Here we'll be staying with a friend of mine from high school who just had a baby in January! We lost touch for several years and recently found each other on MySpace (so there, it does serve a purpose!).

[Suffolk] offers a rare blend of town and country living, with historic roots reaching back nearly four centuries. Have fun in our revitalized downtown, a Main Street pulsing with exciting new places to shop and dine, and southern hospitality second to none. We're a city of pleasant villages with intriguing names like Chuckatuck, Driver, Holland and Whaleyville. Our 430 square miles make us Virginia's largest city, so you won't run out of things to do, sites to see and places to have a good time.

Art: Taking the Jesus Pill and the side effects

I decided to get out of Long Beach and give myself a little treat this week. I finally saw Taking the Jesus Pill last night at the King King in Hollywood. The venue is cute but the event planners were disorganized (and greedy??) because half of the tables there were Reserved which had me asking myself why they sold regular tickets if they planed to have most of the table there Reserved.

Luckily, my thoughtful friend, miss princess, saved a few chairs for us. Warning!! They are really serious about First come First Serve rule. The place small in size and most of the shows there are sold out on most of the nights. So if you are going to see a play or show here, you should be there early and don’t wait till the last minute to get tickets. Despite the lack of organization, the overall venue was sexy and transports you from Hollywood Blvd in year 2006 to Cabaret Bars in the heart of Alabama years earlier.

I have to admit that I enjoyed the play very much. The music was entertaining and the story was provocative and sexy. The storyline was easy to follow, and there were no surprises. The play had many interesting elements, and they were all just working perfectly together. The acting, the special effects, the stage-- and I loved how the audience had interaction with the performers; I thought it was a great idea. What stapled me to the seat for the whole show was the choreography, costumes and the makeup. Each dancer had their own moves and made you just want to become a dancer yourself.

They've added 3 more shows to the King King, so I believe the show is getting recognized, and people appreciate the creativity of these alternative plays. Be warned that it is a fairly anti-bible, anti-Jesus type of show, so if you are religious person, I urge you to stay away. I recommend this play if you want a breath of fresh air.

L’effleur Des Sens was an opening act on the last night for the play. They are this cute little French Cabaret group. I am going back there to the extended August performance so I can see the full show!!

Never enough of odd shopping What am I going to do with this little thing? Display it on my shelves or maybe talk to him on a daily basis? I don’t know. I just know it is so cute and would be cool to own one.

Whatever: Medley of news

I am not a comic geek and I haven't yet owned any comic books but I can't wait to see what the O.C.T. is all about. Having a woman as a super detective and fight crime in Manhattan neighborhood sounds tempting. I am sure I will check out the movie in no time when it finally comes out. For now I will have to check out My Super Ex-girlfriend.

One more reason why we all need to subscribe to Netflix. I am signing up for one because most of the obscure movies that I want to see are not available at Blockbuster or Hollywood VDO. I also just realized that by keep buying movies that I might not like, I will become a bag lady one day.

One more reasons why I secret like Elmo more than Cookie Monster.

Whatever: The Gadget

First the ice cream lock, now the Shockolate Vault Jar, the latest gadget to keep you from indulging when you can't stop yourself. Place your contraband in the jar (cigarettes, candy, your significant other's Blackberry) and set the timer; attempted access prior to that results in a shock. I actually need this.

Art: Home Decorating Nerd

I have been watching H&G Network, The Food Network and A&E every Friday for the last 3 weeks. Maybe I am getting old and boring or maybe I just want to become one of those crafty, artsy girls.

I just found out about this book while I am looking for a good crafty bible. You should check it out and bring yourselves to the beach and make something cute and fun this Summer!!

If you just want to keep up with what is going on in the design world of home decoration, you should check this Blog out. It is so informative and keep up with all the SALES and news of up and coming new designers. The power of the internet that is!

Music: Why is Gnarls Barkley so fab?

Watch their new video for the song Smiley Faces to find out for yourself.

If you work in a cubicle and you hate James Blunt as much as I do, you will love this parody called My Cubicle.

My Vegas trip in a nutshell

Somehow my friends and I ended up at PURE on the 4th of July. This was my view of Paris Hilton. Even weirder than that was the fact that this event was hosted by Mr. F-ING Belding. Seriously.

Movies: Keira Knightley is one lucky bitch

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

I waited in line over an hour to see the Pirates sequel on Friday night, and it was worth it. Even though I was surrounded by a bunch of obnoxious teenagers and I suddenly felt like an old lady, the movie was great fun. And as a bonus, I ended up seated next to three fabulous young gay men who kept me entertained until the film began. Of course, I was a HUGE fan of the first movie--having returned to the theater to drool over Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom a whopping 3 times (which is almost unheard of for me these days).

Dead Man's Chest was not entirely on par with the magic of the original...but it was pretty good in it's own way. I have no major complaints--other than being extremely f-ing jealous that Keira got to kiss Johnny...sigh. Pirates are right up there with Vampires when it comes to sex appeal. Also, if you didn't think there was a way to top the special effects of the first movie, the sequel certainly lives up to the task. Davy Jone's sea-creature crew is just as amazing as the cursed skeletons of the Black Pearl.

What's great about this series is the way in which it seems to bring back the adventure genre as I remember it as a kid. Before Pirates, it just seemed as if series like Indiana Jones and Back to the Future would never come along again. I don't know if it's because they make me feel like a kid again, or if I just like the fact that they don't take themselves too seriously. These movies are what make going to the theater fun.

Art: When rock n roll and goth meet art

The last time I saw a play was two weeks ago. Thanks to my buddy Daria. Since Summer is hotter than ever, I will have to find something fun to do. Taking the Jesus Pill is a play that I am eagerly waiting to see. A so called Southern Gothic tale, it will take you on the wild ride full with rock and roll, burlesque dance extravaganza and many more. Check it out yourself!
